Family owned for 3 generations, David Atkin Construction Inc. was started by Levi Atkin as L.K. Atkin Construction in 1930 out of Bakersfield, California. In 1963 the family relocated the business to Ventura, California and was taken over by his grandson, David Atkin.
Between 1960 and 1980, we specialized in custom homes and tract framing and finish work. We were the exclusive contractor for the Catholic Arch diocese handling all of their construction work on schools and churches in this area. The most notable projects were in handling the seismic upgrades, restoration and roof replacement for the San Buenaventura Mission, construction of the St. Francis School and Rectory in Fillmore, construction of the Sacred Heart School in Ventura, and construction of the Guadalupe School in Oxnard.
Recently, David Atkin Construction has been specializing in school modernization programs. As part of this program, we were responsible for bringing school facilities up to ADA compliance by adding handicap ramps, making alterations to the path of travel, and remodeling hundred of restrooms facilities.
Additionally, we do Residential and Commercial remodeling, room additions, kitchen and bathroom remodels. We also retrofit homes for the elderly to allow them to stay in their homes while maximizing safety.
David Atkin is a board member with both the Ventura County Contractors Association and the Board of Appeals for the Ventura County Fire Department , and serves on the advisory board for Leadership Ventura.
